How to make Plum Jam /Aloo Bukhara Recipe

 

 

Plum Jam  

 


 

 

Today we will make such a recipe that is very healthy and very tasty. We will make it with seasonal fruit. It is Aalu Bukhara, It is known as Plum. It is not the imported one. Imported Plum is of Dark Maroon and is bigger than this one and that is very costly. But it is very cheap fruit and it is very healthy. It has so many properties that you can't count on fingers.

                                                 

It is very good for our skin. Good for eyes also. You can make anything for your children. Sometimes children don't prefer it because of its sourness. So you can make anything from it.

 

And we will make 2 things from it. One will be”Chutney" I will make Chutney because some people can't eat Tamarind. So they make Chutney of Plum or you can enjoy it with Chaat. It will be very tasty and easy to make. And the other, we will make "Jam". That you can give to your children by applying it on the bread. Or you can give it with Bun or with chapatti as well.

 

So that the Children can have the plum in any form and they will enjoy it a lot. It will become so tasty. So first of all we will take some Plums.

 

These are 500 grams of Plums. We have washed them properly. And you have to wipe these properly. Because we will use its skin as well, I will not use any color in both the recipes. So you have to make it clean properly. We have wiped these properly and these are sweet as well as sour in taste. We will make it according to its taste.

 

We will cut it along with its peels. Remove the seed from it. Now we will take. We will take the Plum chopped in the pieces like this. It is around 250 grams. I will use half of the plums.

Plums are 250 grams I will make the Jam without using water in it. I will take around 100-150 grams of Sugar, we will put in it. And in starting on medium flame

 

We will make it slowly-slowly as we are not using water in it. And we will not use any color or preservative in it. We will not even use Lemon Juice in it. Because this fruit is itself little sour in taste

 

If the Plums are very sweet in taste. Then you can put some less sugar in it.

Stir it little, until the sugar starts melting. Sugar starts melting now.

Now cook it on slow flame by covering it. So that the plum gets soft

 And the sugar will be melted some more.

 

We will stir it again and again in between. Now I will put it on another flame. Till then we will make the Chutney. If we want to make the chutney, so I will grind all these plums. In the mixer grinder

 

First of all, we will take a pan for making the Chutney. As the melon seeds look so beautiful in this chutney. So we will roast it little. It is cooking here and Sugar has released so much of water here. Press it like this in between. And there is no need to remove its peels. We have to use it in this jam. And cook it.

 

Seeds are roasted now. We will take out them, now in the same pan. We have grinded the Plum. We will put it in the pan. We will put some water with it. Because it is the Chutney, Put the flame slow. Now you will see what we will put in it. I have Jaggery Sugar. So I am putting the Jaggery Sugar in it. 2 tbsp or 2-2.5 tbsp

 

I am putting 2 tbsp of Sugar also. And it depends that how much you want it sweet or sour. It depends on the plum that how much we needed it sweet. Put some Kashmiri Red Chili Powder. Some normally used Red Chili Powder, Salt. We will put some Black Salt in it. Some powdered Asafetida. Some Cumin Powder, Garam masala and let it cook now.

 

We will put some Ginger Powder. So in this way the very tasty Plum Chutney will be ready. You can use it in any way. We have to check its consistency. That how much we needed it, although it is perfect.

Because it will get more thick after sometime. And one more things are; now we will the roasted Melon Seeds.

 

Now we will put that in it. Chutney is shinning more due to the seeds. And if you like

Then Raisins, we can put Dry Raisins also. That also tastes so good. One more things are although you can use it for a week. In case if you want to make it for long time.

 

Normal Vinegar will give it a smell. But Apple Cider Vinegar makes it tastier. And then you can preserve it. Plums will completely melt in it. But its peels will be seen to you. Children will like it by having it with the bread. So it’s good and you can see its natural color.

 

See! It is so beautiful. It becomes Dark Pink or Maroon in color. No need to put any color in it. And it is very cheap fruit. And with it a very healthy jam is being made. You can put only Jaggery in it. Or you can put only Sugar in it. And I have made it with Sugar only. It will get ready. Jaggery changes its color and it becomes darker. And after it gets little thick

 

And we didn't use water in it so it will get preserved easily as there is nothing to worry about.

Now its consistency becomes perfectly thick now, you can see. And if we keep it for sometime then it becomes thicker. There is no preservative added in it and there is no color in it.

 

It will become tasty itself as we have put the Sugar in it to make it sweet. And sourness is already present in it. Very tasty Jam is ready now.
